On December 27, 2024, Prof. Chen Xiaodong, Prof. Li Shuzhou from Nanyang Technological University and Prof. Hua Zhang City University of Hong Kong were invited by Prof. Yuxin Tang from Fuzhou University and Qingyuan Innovation Laboratory to have exchanges and visits to the research group and gave a wonderful academic report to the students and faculty members in the meeting room 327 of the library of Qingyuan Innovation Laboratory.

First of all, in this academic report, Prof. Li Shuzhou inspired by the active site dynamics in biological systems, introduced a novel CORR mechanism on Fe-N-C. By employing large-canonical density functional theory and kinetic Monte Carlo, it is proposed that the two-sided mechanism can elucidate the reduction of CO by HER at high potentials. This study provides a theoretical explanation for the long-standing confusion about this important catalyst and calls attention to the importance of considering the dynamics of the active site in the reaction mechanism.
